Meet Dr. Tipton

A Brief History and Education

Curtis Orthodontics -Hi, I’m Dr. Tom Tipton, better known as “El Jefe” (actually no one calls me that). I grew up in a military family and have lived in many places in the U.S. and Panama and Japan. As a boy, I enjoyed going on field trips in the jungles of Panama to trap animals with my dad so he could study the fleas, ticks, and mosquitos they carried.

After serving an LDS mission in Argentina, I graduated from BYU as an undergrad, followed by Washington University in the St. Louis Dental School, and later the University of Pittsburgh for Orthodontic Training.

I love the outdoors. Running, hiking, biking, swimming, and golfing are all activities I do regularly. I also love orthodontics and the rewarding daily interactions with kids, adults, and families.

Spending time with my kids is my greatest pleasure. I have four terrific kids, all grown and on their own. One in dental school, one in California, one in Phoenix, and the youngest at Northern Arizona University.
